On August 23-24, 2015, advocates representing different regions in California participated in the Cambodian Advocacy Collaborative Training in Sacramento, CA. This was a two-day workshop, which focused on topics such as legislative advocacy, Cambodian health and mental health disparities, as well as current strategies and efforts on policies that affect our Cambodian community statewide.
Participants made legislative visits with representatives to discuss issues surrounding mental health care and how access to these vital services could be improved. Representatives visited included Asseemblymember Patrick O'Donnell, Assemblymember Anthony Rendon, Assemblymember David Chiu and many others.
Special thanks to the Cambodian Advocacy Collaborative for coordinating the training, as well as The California Endowment, and Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) for funding this program.
